Jean Peltier – Original Vintage Hand Painted Maquette Art Deco Travel Aviation Aeroplane Poster – Années 1920 – Enchères
1,00€
Here is an original hand painted Art Deco poster maquette on paper, entitled Avions Voyages, designed by Jean Peltier and dating from 1929.
Peltier’s stunning Art Deco design shows a powerful Farman plane taking to the skies.
Painted in gouache with pencil, utilising an airbrush technique.
The aeroplane is the F.180 model, which was designed to fly nonstop between Paris and New York. After the crossing attempt was canceled, three more models were developed as luxury transports to operate from Paris to nearby European capital cities with a capacity of 24 passengers. The Farman brothers were highly influential in the field of aviation; they built over 200 aircraft between 1908 and 1941.
Signed by the artist to the lower boarder and dated 1929 to the boarder.
This poster previously went to auction at Poster Auctions International, New York, U.S.A., in 2020 with an auction estimate of $1700 to $2000. Please see the last image.

Some information about the artist.
Jean Peltier (1907 – 1984) was born in Fécamp, France on July 30, 1907. He was from a family of several sea captains. From early childhood he loved the sea and ships, and his work later in life was greatly influenced by this.
After his military service in the Navy, he began his training in Paris in the studio of the sculptor and decorator Fernand Buzon, at Avenue Junot, next to Gen-Paul’s studio. His career as an artist really began with textile design. He was lucky to be recruited by Michel Dubost for a drawing workshop created in Paris by silk magnate François Ducharne.
His workshop comrades included Bernard Lorjou, Yvonne Mottet, Therese Prelle, Guy de Chaugnac (Dom Robert) and, particularly, Suzanne Janin. Attention Fin des enchères : 2026-05-31 18:32:03
