Victor Hugo, a talented draughtsman

Better known as a man of letters, poet, novelist and playwright, Victor Hugo is also a talented draughtsman. There are no less than four thousand comic works from his pen, including drawings, sketches and sketches, done in pen, pen or ink. The works designed by the artist come in addition to his written works, as a continuity between two versions of its creation. "This magnificent imagination flowing in the drawings of Victor Hugo as the mystery in the sky. I'm talking about his drawings in India ink, because it is too obvious that our poet in poetry is the King of landscapers' tell him Charles Baudelaire. An exile political pen and ink for Victor Hugo

The date of creation of the ink for sale by Aguttes auction house evokes the Hugo's political exile following the coup d ' état perpetrated by Napoleon III and the restoration of the Empire.  "Hermitage (Jersey)" is drawn in 1855, date in which the writer stay in the Channel Islands. "This period is an abundant graphic production, hugoliens designs taking the appearance resolutely fantastic and mystical, inspired by the silhouette of the sides and architecture observed on the archipelago" is it specified in the sale catalogue. From 1852 to 1855, Victor Hugo resides on the island of Jersey, where he chose to immortalize, sleeping it on paper, the chapel of a castle in ruins lording it over the Hermitage rock whose composition takes the name. It is part of the aesthetic and the lineage of the eminently romantic landscapes that the writer has was steeped in the Rhine Valley a few years before, as well as blacks from Goya whose imagination feeds the production of Victor Hugo. Values, more or less dark beaches structure the sheet to make a work very expressive and tormented.    It is said that Hugo was trying regularly to draw with his left hand or without looking at the sheet in an attempt to let his unconscious dictate the outline of his work. A the artist dedication brings unpublished biographical elements

Ink presented to her auction carries a dedication to Hugo addressed to Dr. Terrier, to whom he offers the drawing in 1857 in order to thank him for the care he administers to his daughter Adele, victim of depression, then convalescing. These few lines add an intimate and biographical to this work of quality. Kept in the family since then, this graphic work was presented in 1971 at the exhibition "Drawings of Victor Hugo" to the Victor Hugo Museum and then to the House of the artist. The drawing was also in the exhibition "this huge dream of the ocean" which was held in the House of Victor Hugo in 2006. Johnny Hallyday jacket presented in an exhibition of prestige for sale

Jacket jeans Levi's 507 (Big E), one of the three models purchased in 1964 by Johnny Hallyday for the 1964 tour, is presented for auction by knife-Begarie study. This type of jacket that was particularly fond of the singer was the same one that Elvis Presley wore in 1957 in the film "Loving You". It is with this same jacket that Johnny has done a few gigs between March 20 and may 1 1964 and likely the last evening of the Olympia on March 15, 1964. Painted in 1963, this triptych marks the beginning of the relationship of Francis Bacon with Georges Dyer, his biggest inspiration. In the face hectic of her lover, feels the nascent tumultuous relationship between Bacon and Dyer. In this work the features of the style of the English painter: a black background, the tortuous traits, and geometric lines. Francis Bacon we know today would not exist without his encounter with George Dyer
Loïc Gouzer, vice-president of the Department Post War and Contemporary Art, explains: "" Three studies for a portrait of George Dyer "is a Masterful, completed triptych in the first three months of meeting of Bacon with Dyer." This powerful portrait shows the dynamism and the remarkable complex psychology for the artist. George Dyer what Bacon Dora Maar was Picasso. It is without doubt the most important model of the second half of the 20th century, because the character of Dyer, as well as the physical characteristics of the character, are a catalyst for the pictorial breakthrough of Bacon. Francis Bacon we know today would not exist without his encounter with George Dyer. »

The triptych auction was part of the collection of Roald Dahl

These 3 stars, presented for auction by Christie's, were once part of the collection of the intimate friend of Bacon, Roald Dahl. The famous author quickly became an admirer of the work of Bacon, and cela from its first meeting during an exhibition in 1958. However, he had yet to acquire paintings by the artist. Roald Dahl published his now famous works in the 1960s,: "James and the giant peach" and "Charlie and the chocolate factory" and wrote the screenplay for the film James Bond "You Only Live Twice." He managed acquire four carefully selected works by Bacon, between 1964 and 1967, this triptych presented at auction in May.

A museum painting presented in the largest retrospective of the artist

"Three studies for a portrait of George Dyer" was completed at a period when Francis Bacon is at the top of his professional and personal career. When the artist met Dyer at the end of the year 1963, Bacon is already recognized as a master of figurative painting. This triptych will be the central work in his first retrospective in scope in May 1962 at the Tate in London, followed by a triumphal exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum in New York in October 1963. Over the past 40 years, "Three studies for a portrait of George Dyer" was a central element in many and important exhibitions devoted to the artist. It has recently been introduced in the famous retrospective of Bacon in 2008-2009, which moved to the Tate Britain in London, at the Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. It's at Drouot that nearly 800 lots will be dispersed at auction on two days: January 20-21. Several sources for lots of this sale, whose estate Serge Guyot

"It took about 6 months to get this sale" says Jean-Marc Leynet, the sales and key expert on sport in France. We can give three major sources for lots of this vacation. First of all, the pieces that come from collectors wishing to dispose of part of their collection to acquire new pieces, or in the case of duplicate. The latter to participate in this collection are (antiquaires, brocanteurs) art market professionals, who, over their peregrinations, have acquired these lots related to the sport. Finally, as part of a succession, the relatives and families of former athletes wish to sell these memories. This is precisely the case of this vacation where some of the objects are those of succession Serge Guyot, a former player of the PSG in the 1970s. Olympics / soccer / cycling: winning the french trio

However to do a classification among all these exceptional pieces. Indeed, the importance of sports in the world market is not the same country. In France, three major disciplines prance ahead of interest: first Olympism, then Football, and finally the cycling. Three broad headings found in the sale of the knife-Begarie study. Estimates for these unique pieces are related to several criteria

The sales expert explains that estimates for these parts are related to several criteria. First, the scarcity of the good. This is the case for the Jersey silk of Jacques Anquetil (lot 507). The rider carried it on the occasion of his first attempt at the hour record at the Vigorelli velodrome in Milan on October 22, 1955. An attempt which proved a failure: he failed 623 meters from the record held by Fausto Coppi. This piece of memory is estimated at between 2,000 and €2,500. [/et_pb_text][et_pb_text background_layout="light" text_orientation="left" admin_label="Texte" text_font_size="17" use_border_color="off" border_style="solid" disabled="off"] The age of the piece is also going into account of the value of a coin. Mr. Leynet reported an anecdote related to lot 395, since this exceptional "cap" of selecting the team of France of Adolphe Jaureguy Rugby player was found in an abandoned house. Saved at the last minute, this museum piece is estimated at 3,000 / €4,000. [/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row make_fullwidth="off" use_custom_width="off" width_unit="off" custom_width_px="1080px" custom_width_percent="80%" use_custom_gutter="off" gutter_width="3" padding_mobile="off" allow_player_pause="off" parallax="off" parallax_method="on" make_equal="off" column_padding_mobile="on" parallax_1="off" parallax_method_1="on" parallax_2="off" parallax_method_2="on" parallax_3="off" parallax_method_3="on" parallax_4="off" parallax_method_4="on" admin_label="Ligne" disabled="off"][et_pb_column type="4_4" disabled="off" parallax="off" parallax_method="on" column_padding_mobile="on"][et_pb_text background_layout="light" text_orientation="left" admin_label="Texte" text_font_size="17" use_border_color="off" border_style="solid" disabled="off"] The hierarchy of the object itself is also one of the criteria of the estimation: there can be added value related to the sport and the athlete himself. Indeed, a gold medal will not be the same 'value' according to the sport that she will be rewarded and the popularity of the athlete. [/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row make_fullwidth="off" use_custom_width="off" width_unit="off" custom_width_px="1080px" custom_width_percent="80%" use_custom_gutter="off" gutter_width="3" padding_mobile="off" allow_player_pause="off" parallax="off" parallax_method="on" make_equal="off" column_padding_mobile="on" parallax_1="off" parallax_method_1="on" parallax_2="off" parallax_method_2="on" parallax_3="off" parallax_method_3="on" parallax_4="off" parallax_method_4="on" admin_label="Ligne" disabled="off"][et_pb_column type="2_3" disabled="off" parallax="off" parallax_method="on" column_padding_mobile="on"][et_pb_text background_layout="light" text_orientation="left" admin_label="Texte" text_font_size="17" use_border_color="off" border_style="solid" disabled="off"] But the monetary issue is not the only value of a piece of collection. Our expert confides his favorite among the 3 sales lots: a series of licenses of PSG players (Jean-Michel Larqué, Raymond Domenech,...) estimated each 80 / €100. Will thus in selling a dozen of documents belonging to the estate of Serge Guyot, who "never lie in the auction" according to Mr. Leynet.
