KAWS, Shepard Fairey Featured March 24: Urban Art Auction

KAWS, Shepard Fairey featured on March 24 Urban art auction at heritage auction

Monumental and mixed works of art present a wider range of artists

DALLAS, Texas (March 9, 2020) - Original works by prominent urban artists such as KAWS and Shepard Fairey are among the highlights of the vente aux enchères of urban art organized by Heritage Auctions on March 24.

A monumental painting by KAWS, Untitled (MBFF3), 2014, from the artists' “Man's Best Friend” series, represents playfully the emblematic characters of Charles Schultz, Snoopy and Charlie Brown. Untitled is a classic example of the artist's ability to appropriate pop culture icons to display his unique point of view on contemporary culture.

Heritage is proud to offer NO REPLY, 2015, a complete set of 10 prints of KAWS which are offered for the first time at Heritage. This set is a classic example of the artist's use of color and composition, as well as his ability to overlap various media to illustrate his inimitable voice. Other KAWS lots include his famous 4FT Dissected Companion (Black), early 21st century, a KAWS X SUPREME, 2001 skate deck, and several examples of the artist's collaboration with Dior.

A painting by Shepard Fairey, May Day Flag Red (Version 2), 2010, from the landmark May Day series, is also part of the March 24 auction. The May Day series has highlighted the dual meaning of the expression “International Workers' Day” and the distress signal used in emergency situations.

Other highlights include Slot Monopoly, 2014, a classic thematic work by Alec Monopoly, a monumental painting by RETNA and a pair of Apple sneakers created exclusively for the company in the early 1990s. Among other premier artists plan, let us quote M. Brainwash, Ai Weiwei, Yashitomo Nara, OSGEMEOS, Invader, Futura 2000 and many others still.

The auction is open for the auction of March 24 urban art signatures from Heritage Auctions. For more information or to view or download a printable sales catalog, visit HA.com/8023.
