Fine results for the Artcurial “Comic Strip” auction

On Saturday November 23, Artcurialconvanced fans of the 9ème art to know six-month Comics,
which totals 1,2 M € / 1,3 M $. A rare framed board of the Stone Vessel by designer Enki Bilal wins the highest prize of this auction at € 117 / $ 000. A bronze sculpture representing the acolytes Tintin and Snowy, produced in 128 by Nat Neujean under the direction of Hergé, seduces collectors and reaches 700 € / 1975 $.

PARIS – Saturday November 23, Artcurial welcomed fans of the 9th art for a sale dedicated to Comic Strips. The sale, led by François Tajan in front of a packed house, totaled €1/$189.

Modern comics have captured the heart of collectors with the designer Enki Bilal, who wins the highest price of this vacation with a rare framed board of the Vaisseau de Pierre (lot 152), which flew to 117 000 €, exceeding his estimate, and returns to a European collector.

Tintin lovers were as always at the rendezvous and fought for a magnificent bronze sculpture representing the two inseparable Tintin and Snowy (lot 211) made in 1975 by Nat Neujean under the direction of Hergé, won by a European collector for 84 € 500 / $ 92. We should also note a lithograph made in 950 for the Stéphane Janssen Prize at the Royal Waterloo Golf Club, signed in pencil by Hergé (lot 1979) who won the nice prize of € 209 / $ 36.

Another very beautiful piece, the lithography extracted from the album On a walk on the moon (lot 210) signed by Hergé as well as by the American astronauts who walked on the Moon, triples its estimate at 33 800 € / 37 180 $. Rare signatures adorn this lot to the image of Buzz Aldrin and his dedication "First moonwalkers after Tintin", Finally, the color album of Tintin in Congo, made in 1948, (lot 193) was sold 21 500 € / 23 650 $ charges included.

The classic comic book was also honored as the exceptional set of 18 Italian-style plates of L'odio di corazon Sutton by the Italian Hugo Pratt (276 lot) changes hands for 70 200 € / 77 220 $.

The collection of original drawings illustrating the adventures of the young child heroine Caroline by Pierre Probst also aroused the interest of collectors, with good bids notably for Caroline aux sports d'hiver (lot 13), sold for €14 / 300 $, as well as Caroline in Europe (lot 15), sold for €730 / $22 including fees, both tripling their estimate.
